Supporting Artist, West San Bernardino
Rod Muñoz is a recent graduate from California State San Bernardino. He is an experienced photographer working in analog, and works as a photo lab tech at CSUSB assisting professors and students within the art dept. As an I.E.-based photographer and third-generation resident, he focuses on documenting his community and assisting in archiving its rich history through a native lens. Through his images, Muñoz is passionate about showing day to day life in San Bernardino; It’s culture, landscapes and residents.
“Growing up around here, my family knew Raul’s family, so I felt close to this assignment. Jennie told me I was just like my grandfather who she remembered vividly, which really was a profound moment in our conversations. I began documenting Ybarra’s when I was a photo student, so to come back after the recent sale of the store, a pillar in the community, was bittersweet.”
