Henry Apodaca

Born and raised in the Inland Empire, Henry Apodaca is an alumnus of Colton High School and UC Riverside. His great grandparents migrated from Guanajuato, México, to Westside Verdugo at the onset of the 1910 Mexican Revolution to work in citrus agriculture and railway industries and pursue the “American Dream.” Since high school, Henry has been a DJ and record collector of Chicano sounds based in street music and community. In 2002, he received a broadcasting certificate from Radio Aztlán (KUCR 88.3 FM) that propelled him into radio programming and live performance. Henry was a Special Education teacher for LA Unified School District before receiving his Master’s in Library & Information Science at UCLA. He has worked for over six years as media archivist for LA Poverty Department’s Skid Row History Museum & Archive, and continues to DJ and avidly collect record from around the world.
